BYU and the LGBT community

grasshopper.

" for those who aren’t able to be as valiant, but still are good people, there is the Terrestrial Kingdom. Those who are buried in their lusts and have rejected or never had a testimony there is the Telestial Kingdom. So, Elder Ballard is correct."

I find the first sentence an interesting point of view.
I find the second sentence very troublesome, “Those who are buried in their L U S T and have rejected or never had a testimony there is the Telestial Kingdom.”

Are you assuming that those born with genes that made them L/G, with your statement , "Those who are buried in their lusts and have rejected or never had a testimony there is the Telestial Kingdom, is M O R E
B U R I E D in their L U S T than those born with genes that made them like most of us, straight? Is it lust when L/G love each other and want to marry their partner, but not lust when a straight wants to love and mary his partner? Just asking what your thinking is here?

Third sentence, “So Elder Ballard is correct” I am sure he will appreciate your approval. It is my opinion that his words have never been in question as to weather he is correct or not. The only question is how we translate that which he said. I believe that according to what I believe he is saying is 100% in keeping with my personal beliefs and I thank him for his comments.

I’ll refer you once again to Doctrine that has never been changed by latter day prophets. Romans chapter 1 where “lust” is written. Whatever the reason for their reprobate minds, the council is to not enter into homosexual relations. I’ll follow the prophets rather than my own mind.

It is all pretty simple. Sexual relations outside a traditional marriage between a man and a woman are forbidden. Gays and lesbians don’t get a pass on this anymore than heterosexual people do. I don’t know why people are homosexual. It really doesn’t matter why. God forbids sexual relationships outside a traditional marriage. That includes homosexual sex, adultery, fornication, bestiality, masturbation or anything other than sex between a man and a woman, period, end of story!!!

In addition to the above we are told not to look upon a woman with lust and there is no question that would apply to a man looking upon a man with lust, or a woman looking upon a woman with lust. We are counseled against pornography because it is a particularly pernicious form of lust. The standards in regard to the law of chastity are very high and apply across the board regardless of sexual preference. If a person has same sex attraction that doesn’t give them a pass on obeying the law of chastity.

I agree with everything you wrote. But, lgbt will continue to try and change God’s mind. Except for those righteous lgbt that keep the law of chastity with their condition, the rest believe God is wrong. To them, God doesn’t understand them. Meanwhile, there are souls ready for hearing the Gospel and this controversy takes up unnecessary time in my opinion.

Need some help here. I need a citation or something.
I recently read an article in the Trib about BYU and the PAC 10.
It said LGBT groups lobbied to keep BYU out of the PAC 10. I need a source on this.
Don’t confuse this with the lobbying of such groups to keep BYU out of the Big 12. This is
the PAC 10. Furthermore, I’m not saying the efforts were successful; just that they lobbied to keep BYU out.
If anyone remembers the actual article that would be great. I don’t know when the article was written or who wrote it. I wrote to the Trib and as yet have received no answer. I trust there are friendlier ears here.

I don’t think there is a source for that, just assumptions. I personally think it was more the general Mormon thing, rather than specifically LGBT issues with the Pac-10.

The one part you said “Pac 10.” I think the article was done sometime before Utah and Colorado were invited or way before 2011. The other part about the “Trib” we don’t like to go there if it is from SLTrib like Gordon Monson. And I don’t think Pac 12 are talking anymore about adding BYU. But recently they want us to do better for 2018 and beyond because of our 2017 SOS was bad and would hurt their (Pac 12) chance in the NC Playoff.

The Pac 12 has been very good to us. They give us more P5 teams to play than any other P5 conference in the Nation.

Look how often in the recent past we have played UCLA. Look how often we play Utah, this season look at Arizona, Cal, Washington, Utah all from the Pac 12. Look at next seson vs. USC.
and others.

Yes, maybe we should have a guilty conscience over what we did in their back yard with Prop 8,
but with their acceptance of us as non conference game competition, they show much more forgiveness that we are willing to appreciate.

No. No guilty conscience for standing up for what is right. As members of the church we follow the prophet’s counsel. I have no guilt or remorse for doing what is right.

I respect your opinion and beliefs Ron, but I will follow the prophet on this one, just like I try to do on other things.

Bless you Jim Hawks,

Those things that you do that are right, are admirable. Those things that you refuse to hear, and to try to improve on, are a subject for another time. Enjoy the 2018 football season, where things happen, that usually, we can all agree on.

I am not the enemy Jim. Like it or now, I am your brother. :Love ya.
